AFNIC brings the .fr Policy into line with its appointment's conditions

A new Naming Charter, that defines the .fr domain names registration rules, will be effective on March 16th, 2010.

Following its appointment of March 2nd, AFNIC publishes today on its website the new Naming Policy for .fr domain names, which will apply starting March 16th.

The new version of the document particularly introduces the availability of .fr domain to French expatriates. [...]

Project : Anycast

New anycast server

Active

AFNIC continues to deploy its own anycast cloud to increase the robustness of the .fr domain and its quality of service in domain name resolution.

So AFNIC has since the beginning of March a new local node based in Brussels. This node aims at serving the whole Belgian community via both points of exchange BNIX and FreeBIX.

Since 2008, AFNIC has adopted the anycast for the .fr thanks to a cooperation with Autonomica and PCH. In parallel, AFNIC created its own anycast cloud by counting among its nodes Lyon, La Réunion and now Brussels.
